After visiting Leliekloof, the artist Walter Battiss also known as the father of South African Impressionism, called Leliekloof the 'Valley of Art' due to the many (over 20) San Bushmen and Khoekhoen rock art sites.
Leliekloof offers a unique platform to experience and witness San Bushmen shelters, sacred sites and the rock art of which many paintings are of an indeterminate age. The rock art sites are along the stunning sandstone and dolerite gorge carved by the river Skulpspruit.
We offer short excursions studying some of the sites which will take an approximate 3 to 4 hours, depending on visitors' fitness and degree of interest in the rock art, at each site.
