 Leliekloof Lodge

Accommodation in the Valley of Art

About

ABOUT

Leliekloof lodge, an exclusive mountain retreat, where elegance meets wilderness.

Tucked away in the tranquil Stormberg Mountains of the Eastern Cape, Leliekloof Lodge rests in a valley once named the “Valley of Art” by renowned South African artist Walter Battiss; a place where nature, stillness, and creativity converge.

Here, time slows and the landscape invites you to pause, reflect, and reconnect. The beautifully restored farmhouse sleeps up to eight guests, while the charming Rondavel offers space for four more.

Days are spent fishing, discovering ancient rock art sites, exploring mountain trails, sketching beneath wide skies, or simply unwinding amid the rhythm of the valley. Evenings bring fireside warmth, shared stories, and a canopy of stars unlike any other. We recommend a minimum two-night stay to truly experience the peace and magic of Leliekloof.

At 1,800 metres above sea level, the mountain air can be refreshingly crisp even in summer so pack a few warm layers and comfortable walking shoes. A high-clearance vehicle is recommended for the scenic route into the valley.

Climate
Summers are vibrant and mild, with cool mountain evenings perfect for outdoor dining or stargazing. Winter transforms Leliekloof into a landscape of serene beauty, where icy mornings and fireside evenings offer the ultimate in quiet retreat.
